Deputy President William Ruto's wife Rachel Ruto has been making headlines for her religious activities. In a recent development, she hosted a prayer service at their Karen residence for Jubilee's candidate in the Kibra by-election, McDonald Mariga, on October 30, 2019.
According to Rachel's official social media handles, Mariga visited the National Prayer Altar at the Ruto's residence during their weekly prayer and fasting fellowship.
On her Twitter account, Rachel shared a photo of Mariga kneeling at the altar, stating, "McDonald Mariga visited us this Wednesday at the National Prayer Altar during our weekly prayer and fasting fellowship."
She also shared a Bible verse, Psalms 20:1-9 NKJV, which reads, "May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion; May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice."
Mariga has been a strong contender in the Kibra by-election, which was sparked by the death of the late Ken Okoth on July 26, 2019.
