On Thursday, the Harambee Starlets national women's team reported to camp at the Kasarani Stadion Hotel, marking a significant turn of events in their Olympic qualifier preparations against Zambia.
Earlier this week, the team's camp was called off due to a lack of funds, but the government's timely intervention has ensured that the team can now proceed with their preparations.
According to sources, the team is expected to be at full strength by Friday, and will hold their first training session in Kasarani. A friendly match against the FKF National Centre of Excellence has also been scheduled for next Monday.
Starlets forward Mwanahalima Adam expressed her gratitude to the CS for Sports, Amina Mohammed, and FKF President, Nick Mwendwa, for their efforts in securing the necessary funds.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for this chance to come to the camp and train. I also like to thank CS Amina Mohammed and FKF president, Nick Mwendwa, for the fight that helped to release the funds,” she said.
The team will host the first leg match against Zambia on November 8 in Kasarani, while the second leg has been scheduled for November 11 at the Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, Zambia.
