On Wednesday, a 7-year-old boy from Thome in Kasarani was rushed to Kiambu Level Five Hospital after being bitten by a rat while he slept.
The incident has left residents of the area shocked and some even attributing it to witchcraft.
The boy's mother, Evelyn Odhiambo, was equally shocked, saying that the rat only attacked her son, sparing her and his sibling who were sleeping on the same bed.
Ms Odhiambo told The Star, 'We are three in the family and we all sleep in the same bed. Up to now, I still do not understand how rats would eat him up.'
Despite the unusual incident, the boy was treated and discharged from the hospital.
Area residents have advised the family to seek divine intervention, while good Samaritans have helped the family relocate to another house to avoid similar incidents in the future.
