Former President Daniel Moi's health has been the subject of speculation, with some claiming he is dead. However, his Press Secretary, Lee Njiru, has dismissed these claims as 'hogwash.'

Speaking to the press, Mr Njiru stated that Mzee Moi is still undergoing treatment at The Nairobi Hospital, where he was admitted on Saturday after developing breathing complications.

This is the second time in two weeks that the 95-year-old former president has been attended to at the city hospital. According to a source at the hospital, Mzee Moi is currently on restricted visits and his doctor is keeping a close eye on his lungs.

Mr Njiru emphasized that any information regarding the former President's health should be treated with caution and only be believed if sanctioned by the official channel.

“Any information regarding the former President should be treated as hogwash unless sanctioned by the official channel,” Mr Njiru said.

He also questioned the credibility of those spreading false rumours, asking who appointed them to be the family spokesmen and where they got their information from.

“Those are alarmists and malicious people peddling false rumours. Where do they get such rubbish? Who appointed them to be the family spokesmen?” Mr Njiru said.
