Published on October 31, 2019, a widow of the late Equity Bank CEO John Mwangi Kagema has taken a drastic step in a bid to resolve a property dispute.

Sarah Wanjiru, one of the widows of the late tycoon, has filed an application seeking to have his body exhumed for a DNA test to determine the paternity of his children.

Ms. Wanjiru argues that a DNA test will help avoid unnecessary court cases and lengthy litigation to determine the biological children of the deceased.

She accuses her co-wife Beatrice Wanjiku Mwangi and her two sons of excluding her from the properties and failing to disclose the extent of the estate left behind by the late Mwangi.

Ms. Wanjiru further claims that Beatrice's marriage to the late Mwangi is disputed, and she was kept away from all the burial arrangements, causing her psychological torture, stress, and mental anguish.

Beatrice Wanjiku, in a replying affidavit, dismissed the claims, stating that she is the legal wife of Mwangi and that he had no capacity to marry another woman since he married in a monogamous union.

The case will be heard on November 23rd, 2019.
