Former Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has asked the Luo community to repay a political debt to the Luhya community by voting for McDonald Mariga in the Kibra by-election.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Kibra, Khalwale said that the Luhya community has stood with the Luo community for 25 years, but has not received any benefits in return.
He claimed that the Luo community should now reciprocate by voting for Mariga, just as the Luhya community supported Raila Odinga in the past.
Mariga, a candidate from the Luhya community, is vying for the Kibra parliamentary seat, which has attracted several candidates from the Luo community.
On October 30, Mariga gained popularity after the African Divine Church promised to support him in the election.
DP William Ruto has been accused of planning to appoint 75 Jubilee MPs to oversee Mariga's election.
