Published on October 31, 2019, a High Court order has temporarily halted the Isiolo County Assembly's plans to elect a new Minority Leader.

The court's decision comes after two Members of County Assembly (MCAs), Ali Dima Duba and Nura Diba Billa, were ousted from the Assembly following a heated exchange with the Speaker on October 16, 2019.

The two MCAs were de-whipped from their positions and banned from participating in any committee activities for 28 days.

They have since filed a suit against the Isiolo County Assembly, alleging that they were arbitrarily and illegally removed from their positions and suspended from House sittings without being given a right to be heard.

Justice Makau has directed the matter to be mentioned on November 6 for further directions.
