On October 31, 2019, news of Daniel Moi's admission to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) sparked widespread speculation about his health.
However, his family swiftly refuted the claims, stating that he was only undergoing a routine medical check-up at a Nairobi hospital.
Lee Njiru, the family spokesperson, emphasized that any information regarding Moi's health should be verified through official channels, as speculation and false information could cause unnecessary tension.
"Any speculation regarding the former President should be treated as hogwash unless sanctioned by the official channel," Njiru said.
He also warned the public against spreading false information, stating that the family would not hide anything about Moi's condition and would only communicate through authorized channels.
"If what people are talking about happens who can hide such a thing. To those people making alarmists and malicious statements, where do you get such rubbish? Who appointed you to be the family spokesmen?" Njiru posed.
