Former Equity Bank CEO John Mwangi Kagema's death in December last year has sparked a property dispute among his widows and children. In a bid to resolve the issue, one of his widows, Sarah Wanjiru Ngugi, has filed a court case seeking a DNA test to determine the paternity of the late CEO's children.
According to court documents, Sarah claims that her co-wife, Beatrice Wanjiku Mwangi, and her two sons have excluded her from the properties and estate owned by the deceased. She also alleges that Beatrice's marriage to the late CEO is disputed, citing information shared by the deceased.
Beatrice, however, has denied the allegations, stating that she is the legal wife of the late CEO and that he had no capacity to marry another woman since their marriage was in a monogamous union. She also dismissed claims by another woman, Esther Njeri, who claims to be a wife to the deceased.
The case will be heard on November 23 this year.
