Cristiano Ronaldo Accused of Diving to Win Penalty Against Genoa

Published on October 31, 2019, Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused of diving to win a penalty against Genoa on October 30, 2019.

The Portuguese forward netted the late-minute penalty, securing a 2-1 win for Juventus and propelling the team to the top of Serie A.

However, fans have blasted Ronaldo with some accusing the referee of making a mistake by awarding the penalty.

According to eyewitnesses, Ronaldo went down in injury time after having contact with Genoa defender Antonio Sanabria, prompting the referee to blow the whistle immediately.

Despite the VAR refusing to overturn the decision, Ronaldo stepped up and smashed his 96th-minute penalty into the bottom corner to secure the win.

But some football fans were left fuming, with one fan explaining, "How many million times have we seen this move out of Ronaldo? He clearly pulls his foot up so that he falls—clearly not because of any contact."
