Kenya has been in the news for various reasons this week, from the firing of experienced journalists to the denial of reports about the health of former President Daniel Moi.

On Monday, October 28, a heated debate erupted in the Nairobi County Assembly over a motion to impeach Speaker Beatrice Elachi. The motion was tabled by Abdi Guyo, the majority leader, and was met with resistance from Elachi's supporters.

On Tuesday, October 29, K24, a media outlet linked to the family of President Uhuru Kenyatta, laid off 160 of its experienced journalists, citing financial difficulties. The move has sparked concerns about the future of media in Kenya.

Also on Tuesday, October 29, Kenyans took to social media to express their love and appreciation for Hussein Mohammed, a journalist who had announced his departure from the media outlet.

On Wednesday, October 30, the family of Sharon Otieno, a student who was murdered in 2018, announced that 42 witnesses were ready to testify against Governor Obado, who is accused of her murder.

On Saturday, October 26, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) announced that 11 students from Tharaka Nithi County had refused to sit for the KCPE exam due to their religious beliefs.

On Sunday, October 27, a group of soldiers was spotted at the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, sparking concerns about the safety of the facility.

Also on Sunday, October 27, an officer from the General Service Unit (GSU) in Machakos County confessed to being ordered to kill his mother and sister.
