On October 31, 2019, a landmark judgment was delivered by the Rongo Law Court, sentencing a man to 20 years in jail for defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The court, presided over by Resident Magistrate Raymond Langat, found the man guilty of defiling his sister-in-law on August 1, 2019, in Awendo, Migori County.
According to the ruling, medical evidence, circumstantial evidence, and oral testimonies from seven witnesses convinced the court beyond reasonable doubt that the accused was guilty.
The court noted that the sentence would serve as a lesson to those who might be tempted to defile minors.
The convict has 14 days to appeal the judgment, failure to which he will serve the sentence.
