The Kenya Film Commission has announced the nominees for the 9th Kalasha Film Awards, with a total of 959 entries in 34 categories.
The nominees' list features familiar names in the film industry, including Pascal Tokodi and Celestine Gachuhi from the popular show Selina, which is nominated for Best TV Drama.
Other notable nominees include Njoro wa Uba, Varshita, and Vioja Mhakamani, which will compete in the Best TV category.
The voting process is now open, with the public vote constituting 30% and the nomination academy's vote constituting 70% of the total tally.
The winners in each category will receive a monetary reward for the first time in the history of the Kalasha Awards.
The nominees' unveil ceremony marks the launch of the voting process, which will conclude on November 30, 2019.
The shortlisted films will be uploaded on Startimes ON, an online mobile application, for viewing and public voting from October 30 to November 30.
