On October 31, 2019, Silverstone Airline faced a series of flight mishaps, including an emergency landing at Eldoret International Airport.

The incident occurred when their Dash 8-300 aircraft, registration 5Y-BWG, lost its number 3-wheel assembly during take-off from Lodwar and made an emergency landing.

According to Silverstone Airline, preliminary inspection revealed that the likely root cause of the incident was bearing failure.

The airline also noted that the aircraft was inspected, certified, and released back to service in accordance with the Aircraft Maintenance Manual.

Additionally, Silverstone Airline reported a ramp incident at the Wilson Airport on Sunday involving their Fokker 50 aircraft, registration 5Y-SMT.

The aircraft clipped a Beechcraft King Air 200, registration 5Y-SSB, which was registered to East African Safari Air Express Limited.

According to the airline, their aircraft was taxing for engine runs at the time of the incident and was not taking off for a flight as widely reported.

Wilson Airport's congested ramp was cited as a contributing factor to the incident, which was reported to the relevant authorities and the insurers of the affected airline are in contact with Silverstone Airline's insurers.

Earlier in the month, a Silverstone plane skidded off the runway and crashed at Wilson Airport while leaving Nairobi for Lamu, injuring 9 of the 50 passengers on board.

Following the incidents, a Parliamentary committee on Transport and Public summoned Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) and Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to appear on Friday to shed light on the level of regulatory compliance of local airlines.
