On October 30, Liverpool stunned Arsenal 5-4 on penalties in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Anfield, forcing the encounter into post-match penalties after the two sides settled for a thrilling 5-5 draw after regulation time.
Despite his wards doing him proud, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has come out to admit that the club could forfeit their quarter-final tie if the tournament's organisers fail to find an appropriate date for the match.
The Reds are scheduled to face Aston Villa in the final eight, but the match – which would normally play in the week commencing December 16 – could clash with their commitments in the Club World Cup, with their first match in the inter-continental competition set to hold on December 18.
According to Klopp, if the fixture makers fail to find a suitable slot in the Reds' congested calendar, the club may have to forfeit the match, as he warned, 'If they don’t find an appropriate place for us, not 3am on Christmas Day, then we don’t play it.'
