The Carabao Cup quarter final draw has been released, with Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City avoiding each other in the competition.

Manchester United, who had a heroic performance against Chelsea, will face Colchester United in the quarter final on December 16.

Liverpool, who knocked out Arsenal in a dramatic 5-5 draw, will face Aston Villa at Villa Park in the quarter final.

Manchester City have been drawn against League One side Oxford FC, while Everton will face in-form Leicester City in an all-Premier League quarter final fixture.

Colchester United, who have already knocked out two Premier League sides – Tottenham and Crystal Palace – en route to the quarters, might not be a pushover as initially thought.

The quarter final draw was released on October 31, 2019, with all the ties set to be played in the week commencing December 16.

According to Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's involvement in the Club World Cup in Qatar on December 18 could affect their participation in the Carabao Cup, with Aston Villa set to progress automatically if a suitable date for the fixture cannot be found.

"If they can't find the proper date for us and I don't mean Christmas Day 3am, then we can't play the game. Our opponents will progress," Klopp said.
