On October 30, 2019, Sarah Wairimu Cohen, the widow of the late Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen, filed an application with the court seeking access to her matrimonial home in Kitisuru.
According to the application, Sarah Wairimu wanted to retrieve her personal effects and car from the house, citing inconvenience caused to her friends and relatives due to frequent lifts.
She claimed to have spent a significant amount on purchasing new clothes, despite having thousands of shillings lying idle in her Kitisuru home.
However, the state counsel, led by Catherine Mwaniki, opposed the application, arguing that the Kitisuru home was a crime scene in an active murder case and that suspects were not allowed near the premises.
Justice Stella Mutuku directed Sarah Wairimu's lawyer, Philip Murgor, to file a formal application detailing the items his client needed from the house, which would enable the state to determine what items were exhibits in the murder case.
The application is scheduled to be heard on November 5, 2019, and will determine the direction of the Cohen murder case.
