Former President Moi's legacy extends far beyond his 24-year tenure as Kenya's second president. His family, particularly his granddaughters, continue to make headlines for their defense of his legacy and their own accomplishments.

One notable example is Laila Denise Ibrahim, who in April 2018 publicly called out Deputy President Ruto for showing up at her grandfather's home unannounced. In a Facebook post, she stated,

There was a protocol fail on the DP's side, you cannot just show up… without prior arrangements. Least forgetting that Moi is still a well-respected statesman,' her Facebook post read in part.

Another notable granddaughter is Talisa Moi, the daughter of Philip, President Moi's son. Talisa attended the prestigious St Andrews University in the UK and later moved to Oxford, showcasing her academic prowess.
