On Wednesday, the Zambian Super League (ZSL) entered round 9, with nine Kenyan Internationals in action.
Among them were Jesse Were, Anthony Akumu, and David Owino, who played for Zesco United in their match against Lusaka Dynamos at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
Were scored a hat-trick, while Akumu scored the fourth goal as Zesco United won 4-1, opening a four-point gap at the top of the league with 24 points from eight matches.
Red Arrows, who have 20 points from nine matches, are now second in the league.
Were and Akumu have been linked with transfer rumors as their contracts are set to expire at the end of the year, with several teams reportedly interested in signing them.
Meanwhile, Ian Otieno, Andrew Tololwa, Musa Mohammed, Harun Shakava, and Duncan Otieno were also in action in the ZSL.
Shakava, a former Gor Mahia captain, scored his first goal in the ZSL as Nkana beat Red Arrows 3-0 at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Former Gor Mahia defender Musa Mohammed played the entire match for Nkana, while ex-AFC Leopards skipper Duncan Otieno was sent off late in the second half for a second bookable offense.
Former Posta Rangers goalkeeper Ian Otieno and striker Andrew Tololwa featured for Red Arrows.
With the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) struggling financially, the ZSL continues to attract Kenyan players seeking better opportunities.
