Former President Mwai Kibaki, 88, has been hospitalized at Nairobi Hospital since October 21, undergoing routine medical check-ups, according to his spokesperson Ngari Gituku.

Ngari Gituku clarified that Kibaki's hospitalization was a routine medical check-up, dismissing claims that the former president was seriously ill.

On August 2016, Kibaki underwent surgery in South Africa to relieve pressure on his neck artery.

Madaktari kutoka Hospitali ya Netcare Sunninghill nchini Afrika Kusini waligundua kuwepo na shinikizo la damu ambalo lilisababisha Kibaki kupatwa ni kiharusi nyumbani kwake Muthaiga.

Kibaki served as the President of Kenya from 2003 to 2013, marking the end of his term.
