Deputy President William Ruto has urged Jubilee leaders to rally behind McDonald Mariga in the Kibra by-election, scheduled for November 7, 2019.
According to a private message allegedly sent by Ruto to Jubilee MPs, the party requires at least 75 MPs to act as agents and protect Mariga's vote on election day.
However, Nandi MP Alfred Keter has dismissed the call, labeling Mariga a 'non-starter' who has never voted in his life.
Alfred Keter, who has been at odds with Ruto, vowed not to campaign for Mariga or offer any support, slamming the Jubilee candidate as unworthy of support.
"No amount of lobbying nor intimidation is going to make me support a non-starter like Mariga who has never voted in his life and is not even from Kibra period. Kwendeni uko (go away)," Keter responded.
The Kibra by-election has divided Jubilee party leaders, with some openly backing ODM candidate Imran Okoth.
