Published on October 31, 2019, a shocking case of murder in Machakos County has come to light after a man confessed to hiring a GSU thug to kill his wife and mother-in-law.

The incident occurred in Katani, Machakos County, where a woman and her mother were shot dead by two gunmen on a motorcycle. The woman's husband, who was with them at the time, was grazed in the arm.

However, in a twist of events, the DCI revealed that the hit-men who committed the heinous crime were actually hired by the husband himself.

According to the DCI, the husband, Frederick Mwangi, initially employed as a family driver, had fallen in love with his boss's daughter and was living with her as husband and wife. He told the sleuths that he had hired the men to take out his lover.

But in a mysterious case of poetic justice, Mwangi was shot in the arm and leg and hospitalized. His sister was also hospitalized with bruises.

He initially told officers that he was driving into his compound with his 'wife' Purity Wanjiru on Saturday night when two gunmen on a motorcycle accosted them as his mother-in-law Ann Katita was opening the gate.

Wanjiru, 35, and her mother Anne, 60, were shot in the head with rifles. The case was brought to light after one of the hitmen, an instructor at the General Service Unit (GSU) training school in Embakasi, was arrested as he sought treatment for a gunshot wound he suffered during the attack.
