Published on October 31, 2019, police in Machakos County have made a breakthrough in the murder of a 60-year-old woman and her 35-year-old daughter-in-law.
A gunman linked to the crime was fatally shot by detectives at his home in Katani on Wednesday morning.
Two AK 47 rifles were recovered from the suspect's home, which were reportedly used in the cold-blooded murder of the two women on Saturday.
Spent cartridges recovered from the murder scene matched the guns found in the suspect's home.
A GSU officer was also arrested in connection with the gun used in the murder.
Further investigations are ongoing, with a second police officer linked to the murder being pursued by detectives from the Special Crimes Prevention Unit.
According to Athi River sub-county commander Samuel Mukuusi, more suspects are being sought in connection with the crime.
