On October 31, 2019, Sarah Wairimu Cohen, the murder suspect in the case of her Dutch husband Tob Cohen, requested the court to allow her to access her Nairobi's Kitusuru home.

Through her lawyer Philip Murgor, Wairimu lamented that she was spending a lot of money buying new clothes and wanted to be allowed to get her clothes from the house.

She also requested permission to pick up her car parked at the house, stating that she did not want to depend on lifts from relatives and friends.

“She’s had to buy clothes, shoes, and accessories, she needs to take these items from her bedroom …all be released to her as a matter of urgency,” Murgor said.

Wairimu was released on a cash bail of Sh2 million after denying the charges, but was prohibited from accessing her matrimonial home without the court’s permission.

The prosecution objected to Wairimu’s application, arguing that everything in the house is part of the exhibit and the car cannot be released to her.

“Unless the analysis is done we can’t release anything in that house as it is exhibit,” State Prosecutor Catherine Mwaniki said.
