Published on October 31, 2019, State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has come to the defense of President Kenyatta's frequent foreign trips.

Waita took to Twitter to downplay concerns over the president's numerous trips abroad, despite the country's financial shortage.

He emphasized that foreign travel is an essential part of the president's job, aimed at positioning Kenya as a force for good and a thought leader in the international community.

"One of President Kenyatta's duties as Head of State is to position Kenya as a force for good and a thought leader in the community of nations," Waita wrote.

He added that the president has discharged this duty effectively, and that foreign travel is simply part of the job.

The comments come after a report by The Star claimed that Kenyatta has made 31 foreign trips over the last 21 months.

While there have been questions over the value for money of these trips, the government has insisted that they are beneficial to the country.
