On Wednesday, Gor Mahia FC signed a five-year partnership deal with Agro Chemical, a Muhoroni-based company, through its gin brand Patriot.
According to CEO Lordvic Aduda, the club will benefit from a percentage of sales of the Patriot brand.
The agreement comes as a surprise, given that the club received Sh1 million from Keroche Breweries last month to help with their financial burden.
However, it appears that talks of a permanent sponsorship deal with Keroche may have broken down, as the club has now partnered with a competitor.
The club's previous partnership with a baking company ended prematurely, and the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) record champion are now seeking new avenues for sponsorship.
As the club prepares to jet out of the country on Friday for the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup playoffs against DR Congo giants Motema Pembe, they are still waiting for the government's promise to provide their flight tickets to the Congolese capital Kinshasa.
"Our treasurer and the team manager are on it. They are chasing for the tickets as some other officials are busy processing Congolese visas," Aduda said.
