October 30, 2019, marked a special day for Tanzanian President John Magufuli as he celebrated his birthday. However, the president's joy was short-lived as a comedian, Idris Sultan, landed himself in trouble for photoshopping his face onto the president's body.
According to reports, Idris Sultan shared a post on his Instagram page where he wrote, 'Kwa siku moja tukabadilishana kazi ili a-enjoy birthday yake kwa amani???' (For one day, we swapped work so he could enjoy his birthday peacefully).
However, the post did not go unnoticed, and senior politician Paul Makonda, the regional commissioner of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, took to social media to ask Idris Sultan to report to any police station as he is wanted for pulling such a stunt on the president. Makonda wrote, 'Naona mipaka ya kazi yako huijuwi. Nenda sasa hivi kituo chochote Cha polic uwambie Makonda kaniambie nije utakuta ujumbe wako. @idrissultan' (I see the boundaries of your job are blurred. Go now to any police station and tell Makonda that I have a message for you).
