On August 8, 2019, Jeff Koinange hosted Wendy Waeni and her mother, Ms. Magdalene Mbele Syombua, on his popular night show, Jeff Koinange Live, on Citizen TV.
However, Joseph Mwangi, Wendy's former manager, has now threatened to take legal action against Jeff Koinange and Royal Media Services (RMS) over the interview.
According to a letter dated October 30, 2019, seen by Kenya Insights, Mwangi accused the show of making 'malicious misstatements, injurious falsehoods, and slanderous utterances' that targeted him and damaged his reputation.
Mwangi claimed that the interview was scripted and that Jeff Koinange guided Wendy on what to say, which led to the public making libellous statements against him.
He also alleged that the show caused him to undergo 'extreme depression, cyberbullying, threat to life, stress, and failing health.'
As a result, Mwangi was arrested by the DCI over forgery allegations and paid Sh50,000 in bail, which is still ongoing in court.
He has demanded a written apology in print media and another interview with Wendy and her mother.
