Kenya's national exams for eighth-grade students, KCPE, began on October 29, 2019, with over a million candidates registered to take the test.
Deputy President William Ruto visited a primary school in Ngong, where he also oversaw the exams, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Education.
During his visit, Ruto assured students that the government would ensure equal opportunities for all students to pursue their education without any form of discrimination.
He also promised that students who perform well would have a chance to attend better secondary schools in 2020.
On Twitter, Ruto wrote, "I sat for the exams and then supervised them at a primary school in Ngong, where I also wished the students good luck."
As the exams entered their second day, several government officials visited various schools to wish students good luck.
