Beloved Actor John Witherspoon Passes Away at 77

John Witherspoon, a legendary American actor and comedian, has left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. He was best known for his roles in the comedy trilogy 'Friday' and the sitcom 'The Wayans Bros.'

Witherspoon's impressive career spanned decades, with notable appearances in 'The Boondocks,' 'Boomerang,' 'House Party,' and 'Soul Plane.' His talent and charisma endeared him to audiences worldwide.

According to Deadline, Witherspoon passed away on Wednesday at his home in Sherman Oaks. His family described him as a legend in the entertainment industry and a father figure to all who watched him over the years.

His family's statement read: 'It is with deep sadness we have to tweet this, but our husband & father John Witherspoon has passed away. He was a Legend in the entertainment industry, and a father figure to all who watched him over the years. We love you “POPS” always & forever.'

Witherspoon is survived by his wife Angela and his sons JD and Alexander. Celebrities who worked with him shared their messages of condolences, including Regina King, Ice Cube, Jackée Harry, Isaiah Washington, and Arsenio Hall.
