On Wednesday, A24 Media, a leading multimedia company based in Kenya, unveiled Yebo, a groundbreaking Video on Demand (VoD) platform that showcases authentic African stories.

According to Asif Sheikh, co-founder and CEO of A24 Media, the platform will be a curated collection of stories from more than 30 countries across the continent.

“For 11 years, we have been producing content from all over Africa. We have stuck to our mandate of telling the most relevant stories from all over Africa. Today we take a further step to give Africans within the continent and those in the Diaspora a chance to continue celebrating their motherland through stories,” Sheikh said.

Yebo is the first factual storytelling platform in Africa, offering a diverse range of formats, including documentaries, biographies, short stories, magazine shows, and weekly segments.

Commenting on the platform, A24's head of strategy George Mutero noted that the company was inspired by the rapid growth of digital media before deciding to venture into the VOD business.

“Africa has a population of at least 1.6 billion and most of the youth population have been searching for relevant content, we’ve seen the untapped potential and that is why we launch Yebo today,” Mutero said.
