Unai Emery is facing a major squad selection headache ahead of Arsenal's Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool on October 30, 2019, with five regular players set to miss the encounter.

Speaking in his pre-match conference, Emery revealed that goalscoring sensation Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Luiz, Calum Chambers, and Granit Xhaka will all be absent from the squad.

Granit Xhaka, who clashed with fans at the Emirates last weekend, is particularly devastated by the incident, with Emery describing him as 'sad and very down'.

"I wasn't thinking him for that match. He will stay here to train. We are going to first recover him as a person because now he's down. Then we will think on the team," Emery said.

Meanwhile, Mesut Ozil is expected to return to the fray against Jurgen Klopp's men, with Emery hinting that the embattled midfielder could even skipper his side.
