Kenya's Negative Attitude Hinders Progress ¶
As I reflect on the story of Jesus' return to Nazareth, I am reminded of the limitations of God's power to do miracles. It is not the power of God that is limited, but rather the attitudes and beliefs of men. If Jesus were to come to Kenya today, I fear that we would not receive many blessings from him due to our negative attitude.
Kenyan's tendency to focus on the negative aspects of a situation is a trait that I have observed firsthand. When given a gift, such as a horse or a sheep, they often describe it in a negative light. This attitude is not limited to everyday situations, but also extends to major infrastructure projects such as the SGR and the expressway.
Despite the benefits of these projects, Kenyans are quick to point out their flaws. The SGR, for example, has been criticized for its high cost and lack of cargo. However, this criticism ignores the fact that the MGR will continue to operate and deliver cargo to and from Kisumu. Similarly, the expressway has been criticized for its toll fee, but this ignores the fact that it will reduce traffic congestion and improve efficiency.
It is time for Kenyans to adopt a more positive attitude towards infrastructure projects. Instead of focusing on what is wrong, we should be looking for solutions to our problems. By doing so, we can overcome the challenges that face our country and achieve progress.
As the Bible says, 'If you have ever missed your flight, then you would know full well that a Sh150 fee on the expressway that will enable you to get to the airport in 10 minutes is worth it.' Let us not be like the men of Galilee whose diseases could not be cured after they despised the cure that had been sent to them.
