Former President Daniel Moi's health has been the subject of concern, with various reports circulating about his condition.

However, his family has come out to allay fears, stating that he is receiving medical attention at The Nairobi Hospital.

According to a statement by his press secretary Lee Njiru, Mr. Moi is in hospital being attended to by a professional medical team led by his personal physician Dr. David Silverstein.

"He is alert and conscious of his surroundings," the statement said.

Mr. Njiru urged the media to refrain from publishing alarming statements and instead wait for medical bulletins issued through the official channel.

Mr. Moi was taken to The Nairobi Hospital for a routine exam, which has sparked concerns about his health.

However, Mr. Njiru clarified that the visit was for a routine medical check-up, stating that it is prudent for everyone to go for medical check-ups.

"It is true that Mzee Moi went to Nairobi Hospital today (Monday) but it was for a routine medical check-up," Mr. Njiru said.

Mr. Moi's family has expressed gratitude to Kenyans and well-wishers from abroad for their prayers and messages of support.
