On October 30, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta met with King Abdullah II of Jordan in Saudi Arabia, where they discussed several key issues.

During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference, President Kenyatta sought the King's support for Kenya's bid to secure a two-year term on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) as a non-permanent member.

According to a statement from the President's office, the African Union has already endorsed Kenya for the seat, and the government is hopeful that it will succeed in its bid during elections slated for June next year.

President Kenyatta and King Abdullah also discussed ways to strengthen trade and enforce bilateral agreements between the two countries, with the two leaders directing their respective ministries to fast-track the implementation of these agreements.

Other topics of discussion included partnering to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and combating radicalization.

The FII summit is an international investment conference where 40 countries are represented, and President Kenyatta is one of the keynote speakers, discussing Africa's intentions to take the lead in trade and investment.
