Heavy rains in Cameroon have triggered a devastating landslide in Bafoussam, claiming the lives of over 40 people.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday at around 9pm, with survivors describing the scene as a 'big cloud of dust'.
Albert Kenge, who survived the landslide, told Africa News: 'Around 10 p.m. I heard a noise. I saw a big cloud of dust and when it dissipated, I saw that the mountain had collapsed.'
At least 70 people were reportedly injured in the landslide, with six in critical condition, and over 30 people are still missing.
President Paul Biya sent his condolences to the families of the victims, and his Minister of Decentralization and Local Development, Georges Elanga, visited the scene.
The Minister announced that 25,000,000 francs (approximately Ksh.4,377,922) would be released to support the victims.
