Edwin Abonyo, husband to the late Bomet governor Joyce Laboso, has spoken about the heartbreaking experience of watching Kenyans battle cancer in India.

Abonyo, who had accompanied his wife to India for cancer treatment, shared his story during an interview with Massawe Japanni.

‘When I was in India, I met Kenyans battling cancer – it was a very sad state of affairs. To watch them struggling and the stress their families were put through was heartbreaking.'

Abonyo revealed that he had paid the medical bills of two families he felt sorry for, but unfortunately, one of the patients passed away.

Laboso's cancer had first developed in 1991, and she had undergone treatment. However, when it recurred, they tried a new nuclear treatment called PRPP, but it was unsuccessful.

Abonyo also shared what he misses most about his wife, saying, 'The ladies' touch in the house, the love and attention, but we try to make up for it by being close.'
