On October 30, 2019, DOB Equity, a leading Dutch family-backed impact investor in East Africa, announced its investment in Moringa School, a software development school founded by 23-year-old Audrey Cheng in 2014.
Moringa School, located on Ngong Road, has provided digital and professional training to over 1,800 students since its inception, increasing their employability and access to the labor market.
DOB Equity's investment is aimed at capitalizing on the fast-growing demand for software developers in the region.
According to Brigit van Dijk-van de Reijt, CEO of DOB Equity, the investment will help plug the skills gap in the tech industry by training Kenyan youth to become tech-savvy software developers who can handle global assignments.
“This is a huge opportunity to better train tech talent to fit the growing market needs. The increasing global demand for tech talent, together with Africa’s rapidly rising youth population, makes this opportunity even more pressing,” she said.
