On Monday night, a 14-year-old girl gave birth, and just hours later, she sat for the KCPE exams at Ahero sub-county hospital in Nyando Sub County.
She was not the only student to sit for the exams under unusual circumstances. A 14-year-old boy from Kasuna primary school in Nyando was also at the hospital, undergoing treatment for burnt fingers allegedly inflicted by his stepmother and father.
Both students had invigilators supervising the KCPE exams, and they were expected to complete their papers within the three-day exercise, just like their peers.
Dr. Bernard Owino, in charge of Ahero sub-county hospital, revealed that they had set aside private wings for the two pupils.
Additionally, two other pupils from Nyakach and Muhoroni were sitting for their exams at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), undergoing treatment for various illnesses.
Furthermore, several inmates at Kodiaga and Kibos prisons were also sitting for the KCPE exams.
