On Tuesday, police in Kerugoya arrested a school manager and a KCPE exam supervisor for allegedly chasing away a candidate.

The incident occurred in Kirinyaga, where the county director of education, Abdikarir Hassan Ali, stated that the two individuals wanted to prevent the candidate from sitting for the national exam.

Abdikarir Hassan Ali said, 'We won't allow this in Kirinyaga,' adding that they are yet to establish the motive behind the incident.

The two suspects are currently in custody at Kerugoya Police Station, according to Kirinyaga Police Commander Leah Kithei.

Kithei noted that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation will be handling the matter, and the two will be taken to a court of law after investigation.

Meanwhile, in Emuhaya, adult and continuing education coordinator Anne Masakhwe reported that she has five candidates sitting for the KCPE exam this year.

However, heavy rains posed a challenge, making it difficult for candidates to get to exam centers.

In Nakuru, County Commissioner Erastus Mbui stated that two buses ferrying exam papers got stuck in muddy roads in Kuresoi North sub-county.

Despite the incident, the candidates started on time, and the papers were later delivered.

There are 626 centers in the county with 53,601 candidates sitting for the KCPE exams.

Heavy rains also rendered roads impassable in Baringo, with Kiserian and Sintaan primary schools receiving their papers late.

In Tiaty, sub-county commissioner Sylvester Munyasia said they had to use boda bodas to ferry exam papers to Nakoko primary school.

A 15-year-old girl pupil from Lomayana Primary School in Illchamus ward sat for the exam after giving birth the same morning.
