On October 30, 2019, a heated discussion surrounding the HPV vaccine took place on a popular radio show. Andrew Kibe, a well-known radio host, shared his concerns about the vaccine, sparking a debate among listeners.
According to Kibe, the government is hiding the truth about the HPV vaccine, and he believes it is being used as a means to promote family planning among young girls. A male caller echoed Kibe's sentiments, stating, 'they are hiding something and I am suspecting it is family planning and there is something the government is not telling us.'
Kibe further alleged that the HPV vaccine encourages young girls, as young as 10, to engage in early sexual activities. He claimed that this has led to an increase in pregnancies among minors, resulting in a high rate of abortions. Kibe even confessed to having taken his girlfriend to procure an abortion, stating, 'I dated a girl for six-years and she procured two abortions. I took her to get one of the two and I found so many men and women ready to get abortions.'
However, the Kenyan government has been advocating for the HPV vaccine, citing its effectiveness in preventing cervical cancer. While some Kenyans support the vaccine, others remain skeptical, labeling it a scam.
