Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has urged residents to be cautious of fraudsters advertising fake business stalls in various city markets.
The affected markets include New Wakulima, Westlands, Mwariro, and City Park (Parklands) markets.
Residents are advised to conduct due diligence before paying money to investors or traders claiming to sell business stalls.
According to Sonko, con artists are using fake advertisements to swindle money from unsuspecting buyers.
He urged victims of such con rackets to report to the nearest police station, Director Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices, or county offices for appropriate action.
Residents can also report related incidents on 0722886600.
On October 30, 2019, Sonko tweeted, "We would like to notify the general public, that there are fraudsters and conmen siphoning funds from innocent citizens through fake sale and issuance of business stalls in various markets within the county."
