Published on October 30, 2019, the hearing of Sharon Otieno's murder case is set to begin on December 2 and 3 this year.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado, his personal assistant Michael Oyamo, and County Clerk Casper Obiero are accused of killing the Rongo University student and her unborn baby on September 3 and 4, 2018, at Owade in Rachuonyo Sub-county, Homa Bay County.

The prosecution team has lined up 30 witnesses to testify against the three accused, including two protected witnesses.

Obado was released on a cash bail of Sh5 million and two sureties of Sh5 million each, while Oyamo and Obiero initially had their bail application denied but were later granted bail after depositing Sh1 million each or an alternative bond of Sh2 million each.

The court's decision to grant bail to Oyamo and Obiero was based on the fact that peace and order had continued to prevail in the county since Obado's release on bail.
