On 23 October, President Uhuru Kenyatta secured a significant investment during his trip to Russia, securing Ksh700 million for a project in the Nyanza region.

According to reports, the donation will be used to clear water hyacinth in Lake Victoria, which has covered 14,000 hectares.

The Russian Ambassador to Kenya, Dimitri Amaksimychev, stated that Russia's donation was part of its support for Africa's sustainable development.

President Kenyatta's trip to Russia has started bearing fruits, with the European country responding immediately by donating money to support a project in the region and promising to do more.

The project aims to attract private sector investors, especially in the converted products from hyacinth, which will see investors providing inputs, equipment, finance, and development of markets.

President Kenyatta held bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart, aiming at cementing trade and investment partnerships between the two countries.
