On July 25, 2019, a call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky was recorded, but the transcript was incomplete, missing the word 'Burisma.'
However, the reconstructed transcript does reference 'the company' and suggests that President Zelensky was aware of its significance to President Trump.
According to the transcript, President Zelensky told the prosecutor general to 'look into the situation, specifically to the company that you mentioned in this issue.'
Colonel Vindman, a White House Ukraine expert, expressed concerns about President Trump's pressure on Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, citing national security implications.
Colonel Vindman told investigators that President Trump mentioned tapes of Joe Biden during the call, which was an apparent reference to Biden's comments at a January 2018 event about his effort to get Ukraine to force out its prosecutor general, Viktor Shokin.
Colonel Vindman also described confronting Gordon D. Sondland, the United States ambassador to the European Union, after the envoy pressed Ukrainian officials to help the Trump administration by investigating the Biden family.
House leaders were preparing for significant new private testimony from current and former White House officials in the coming days, including Ukraine experts and national security advisers.
