Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has made headlines for his philanthropic efforts, particularly in supporting the education of a university student who was forced to drop out due to financial constraints.
According to reports, Cosmas Mutua left his studies at Multimedia University and took up a job as a security guard in Mombasa. His plight first came to light when Mr. Owino posted about his situation on social media, seeking information about his whereabouts.
After a successful search, the outspoken MP announced on Tuesday that he had finally located the student and would be fully sponsoring his education until graduation.
“Today I met comrade Cosmas Mutua who dropped out of Multimedia University because of lack of school fees to be a watchman in Mombasa,” wrote Babu Owino on social media.
“He arrived in Nairobi today morning and we discussed several issues pertaining his education which I will fully sponsor till he graduates,” he added.
Mr. Owino's gesture has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his generosity and others questioning the motives behind his actions.
