On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta met with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan on the sidelines of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Saudi Arabia, where 40 countries are participating.
The FII, a global financial conference, is being held at the King Abdul Aziz Conference Centre in Riyadh, and is attended by over 40,000 participants, including top names in the financial world.
During their talks, President Kenyatta sought the support of King Abdullah II for Kenya's bid for a non-permanent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) seat, which is up for election in June next year.
The African Union has already endorsed Kenya's bid, and the government is hopeful of securing the seat.
President Kenyatta and King Abdullah II also discussed the progress of their respective countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and cooperation in measures to confront radicalisation.
They directed their respective ministries to fast-track the implementation of bilateral trade agreements, with the aim of establishing special status relations between the two countries.
President Kenyatta is one of the keynote speakers at the conference, where he will speak on how Africa is transforming itself into the next great economic frontier through trade and investment.
On Wednesday, he will join other African leaders in a panel discussion on transformative change in Africa and the policy intervention required to spur growth on the continent.
