On Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta held talks with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Saudi Arabia.

The two leaders, who met on the sidelines of the global financial conference, discussed the progress in trade and bilateral relations between Kenya and Jordan.

They directed their respective ministries to fast-track the implementation of bilateral trade agreements, with the goal of establishing special status relations between the two countries.

President Kenyatta and King Abdullah II also discussed the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by their respective nations.

Additionally, they discussed cooperation between Kenya and Jordan in measures to confront radicalisation.

President Kenyatta sought the support of King Abdullah II for Kenya's bid for a non-permanent United Nations Security Council (UNSC) seat, which the African Union has already endorsed.

The FII is being attended by over 40,000 participants, including the biggest names in the financial world.

President Kenyatta will join other leaders in a panel discussion on transformative change in Africa and the policy intervention required to spur growth on the continent.
