Former President Daniel Moi has been receiving medical attention at The Nairobi Hospital, but his family is disputing alarming reports about his health.

According to a statement from his press secretary Lee Njiru, Moi's family is unhappy with the negative and alarmist reports being spread by some media outlets and individuals.

‘The true position is that Mzee Moi is in hospital being attended to by a professional medical team led by his personal physician Dr David Silverstein,' Njiru said.

He added that Moi is alert and conscious of his surroundings, and that the family is thankful for the prayers and well-wishes from Kenyans and abroad.

On Monday, Njiru had allayed fears about Moi's health, stating that his hospital visit was for a routine medical check-up.

‘It is prudent and advisable that everybody should go for medical check-up, so Mzee Moi went for a medical check up,' Njiru said.
