On October 29, 2019, Glocaltravel.io, a pioneering sustainable tourism platform, was crowned the 'Best Startup in Zimbabwe' at a highly competitive event.
The innovative platform, which aims to be the largest provider of live inventory and bookings for a range of accommodation options across the continent, will represent Zimbabwe at the Seedstars Africa Summit.
At the summit, Glocaltravel.io will compete for a spot at the Seedstars Global Summit in Switzerland, where the winner will take home a $500,000 investment prize and enjoy three months of access to the investment readiness program.
Other notable startups that made it to the top three were Property Handle, which enables real estate assets and projects to be tokenized for fractional ownership, and Bitkesh, an internet-based platform for cross-border payments.
The event also featured a range of other startups, including AsambeInc, Divcon Business Solutions, Eonra Health, Kumba Africa, The Housing Hub, and Rejuvenate Umhlaba.
Seedstars World, the organizers of the event, continues its global tour of emerging markets, with its next stop being Lusaka, Zambia, at Bongo Hive.
